Math and Science Update

Assalamu alaikom,

- Math H.W. : Workbook p. 21 + finish bar graph in classwork notebook (if not finished in class)

- Students have to find 1 t-chart and 1 bar graph from newspapers or magazines and bring them to class on Monday Nov. 30.

- Students will have a science test on Monday that covers the habitat unit.

The test will include:

- Habitats: (definition - kinds of habitats - how animals adapt )
- How do humans affect natural habitats?
- Food chains
- The definition of producers - consumers - decomposers - scavengers- carnivores - herbivores - omnivores.
- Destruction of habitats (by natural forces/ human activities)

ANTI-BULLYING POSTER COMPETITION !!

Anti-Bullying Poster Contest Rules and Specifications: Eligibility: All Abraar School students from grades 1 - 6.  Posters must be created only by an individual student. Divisions: Posters will be judged in separate divisions. Grades 1-3 will be in the primary division and grades 4-6 will be judged for the junior division. There will be one winner per division.  The winner will be announced on November 30th, 2015. Theme: All posters must incorporate BULLYING theme. Also include the Character Trait theme for the month CLEANLINESS Paper/Size: Any size is acceptable Art Media: Crayons, cut paper, felt tip pens, markers, pencils, pen and ink, etc, may be used to create the poster. Wood, plastic, glass, metal, fabric, and felt should not be part of the poster. Identification: Your NAME and grade must appear on the back of your poster. Copyright: Your poster cannot include any copyrighted characters, such as those from comics, cartoons, television programs, newspapers, magazines, etc. Deadline: Your poster must be turned in to Tr. Seher or Tr. Asma’a by November 25th, 2015. If your poster is chosen it will be displayed around the school for the entire year. NOTE:  Posters will not be returned to students.

Assalamu alaikom,

1) Insha'Allah, on Monday Nov. 16 the students will have a math test that will cover the following topics:

- Place Value
- Expanded and standard forms
- Comparing and ordering numbers
- Multiplying by 10, 100, and 1000
- Rounding to the nearest 10, 100, and 1000

2) Please sign math quiz

3) please sign science test - Here are some questions you could ask your son/daughter while reviewing the test:

a- What did you do well?
b- Pick one thing you did really well, and explain it.
c- What do you need to improve on for future tests?
d- What steps can you take to improve your scientific knowledge?

4) Science Diorama and Poster are due on Mon. Nov. 16th insha'allah.

5) Food Chain project is due on Friday Nov. 13th.

Salam Dear Parents,

Your child will be coming home with a portfolio filled with language work they have been working on. Please revise with them their work and try to set goals that they can attain throughout the year.
