Grade 4 Reflecting on Surat Al-Qiyyama

Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents;

Mashallah grade 4 are getting tested now on Surat Al-Qiyama and are doing great.

This week as part of our 3Ls program (love, Live and Learn Quraan) we reflected on Ayas 37-40 in Surat Al Qiyama talking about the Miracle of creation.

We watched the following you tube video..and reflected on the attached picture..The students kept saying Subhan Allah and were astonished by the early stages of the embroy and how Allah creates us.

For the students who have submitted registration slips for the competition, please be advised that the first round of the competition will start after the Family Day weekend  and will last until the beginning of March, so be prepared for this round according to the following dates:

Today we started learning about measurements. Your child will be investigating linear and time measurement. There will be opportunities to measure, to choose appropriate measurement units, and to relate measurement units to each other.

Your child can look around his/her room and find 3 objects that could be measured in centimeters.

Math H.W: Students have to measure three things in their rooms using centimeters .

Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents

I hope you have had a nice Winter break with your family.

Our daily routine is drilling the vocabulary related to our daily activities. We are talking about activities at school or at home. Al Hamdulillah, students are gaining self confidence in speaking French during French class.

In class, we worked on our project related to the Winter clothing and activities” Une Fenêtre sur l’hiver” and students did a great job overall.

We are working on the last activities related to the story “L’Arbre Ungali”: Écris l’histoire avec des mots différents and we will be doing our in-class play presentation next week Insha’a Allah.

 Update:

• Tuesday,   January 27, we are having the 3rd French test: spelling, sentence structure  and vocabulary.
• The spelling list for Tuesday is:

Quran Updates

Mashallah Grade 4 have just finished memorizing Surat Al-Qiyama..

Inshallah they will be tested on the whole surah and assessed on memorization and tajwid next Thursday , January 29th .

Please help them practice and be ready.

Besides, they will be tested on the new vocabulary we learned in the Surah. Attached is a copy for your convenience.

Assalamu Alakiom Dear Parents,

Insha'allah, the students will have a math test on Friday Jan. 23rd. The test will cover Chapter 4 "Addition and Subtraction", which includes the following topics:

1- Using mental math strategies to add and subtract 2- digit numbers;
2- Estimating sums and differences using rounding;
3- Adding 4-digit numbers;
4- Subtracting from 4-digit numbers;
5- Calculating change; and
6- Adding and subtracting money.

Salam Parents,


 Here is an update on what we will be learning for the next couple of months in each subject.


Language: We will be starting our novel study on "Charlotte's Web" on Monday. We will read the novel as a class and students will learn new vocabulary, write chapter summaries, and have quizzes. There will also be mini assignments and a final project at the end. Students also need to bring in one empty notebook by Monday.

Social Studies: We will begin our next unit "Heritage and Identity: Early Societties, 300 BCE-1500 CE".  This unit is very fun since students explore the medieval times and learn about kings, queens, serfs, peasants and castles. We will also learn about Mesopotamia, The Mayans, First Nations, Aztecs, and the importance of archeological sites.

Islamic Studies: This months focus will be on "Islam in Africa". Students will learn about the presence and contribution of Islam in African countries. We will look at historical facts and learn about different mosques.

Prayer Chart

Salam Parents,


   Students received a Salah chart today during Islamic Studies class. Please fill out this form daily with your signature in the blank space each day after prayer time to encourage your child to pray at all times. We are also learning about Sunnah prayers so encourage them to pray their Sunnah prayer as well :)
